In
my art work I am exploring relationship between people and inner
world
of the individual. I am also fascinated with mortality as an inevitable
feature of life, trying to find a way to understand it and translate it
into eternity. The body of work I have produced over the last few
years I have named Eterniments, creating a new word to describe moments
of eternity that are transmitted in present time.
The game of chess is deeply rooted in my family and is very popular in
my native Serbia. It is possible to see chess-players in parks and all
sorts of public areas, when the weather is nice. People of all age
groups and different backround are passionate about it. They might be
old friends or people who have just met.
Chess has strong social element and a great power of communication. The
game reminds me of my childhood and creates the atmosphere of security
and happiness, the same way that fairy-tales do. It is exciting,
unpredictable, and creative.
I feel that we are meant to live forever. The spirit is eternal.
However,
in the physical reality of the material world, only through a
spiritual combat is immortality eventually achievable. In an attempt to
describe that state of mind and spirit, I am creating some angelic
creatures with head-like faces, bell-like bodies and numerous wings.
